I have an '02 coupe 6 MN that just turned 47k. I bought the car last winter so this is my first summer driving it. I've only taken a couple long road trips with it, but recently noticed slight high frequency 'whine' at approx 70 mph. It does it in 5th or 6th gear, so I'm reasonably sure it's the diff gears. And I only hear it when under load. If I go down a hill or back
off the gas, it goes away. It's not bad I enough to spend big $$ on a repair (yet)..... so I'm wondering if others had any luck using a different gear lube to quieit it down. I've seen moly additives and other lubes that claim to help but am looking for some real-world feedback. Thanks to all!!
