I am considering replacing the stock halogen headlamp bulbs in my C5 with LED bulbs. I have found the bulbs and capacitors at www.xeonhids,com for $239 for all four bulbs. Is it "overkill" to install both high and low beam bulbs. Would low-beam bulbs (only) be sufficient? From what I have seen on YouTube the LED lights are a big improvement. Please share your experience if you have made such an upgrade. Thank you.
I too installed LEDs bulbs in the low-beam position only; results are mixed. Yes I have much brighter and more light than OEMs, however I now have light at a much higher elevation...I can see the light reflecting off of street signs, trees, etc, along with on the road.
Have not had any on-coming cars flash their lights at me yet.....yet that is.
A different lens is really required to focus/direct the LED light....all of which has been discussed here. Do a search and you will find plenty of information.
I installed LED's over a year ago. I use high beams in all four bulb sockets and also use "the high four" harness. Excellent brightness and pattern. I am using the latest generation of LED's. Re-adjusted the light patterns not to blind on coming drivers.
