I was wondering if someone try to fit the front Calipers and Rotors in the rear . will they fit ? and what changes need to be done ?
I think they will look a lot better than the original rear but don't realy know about the braking problems and performance that might happen ! please input .
Re: Can this be done !! brake question . (vetterdstr)
( as well as running the front calipers on the rear )
thanks Vetterdstr for the reply , but I do still need to put the Front Rotors 12" in the rear ? as far as the E-Brake , I don't remember the last time I have used it !
Yes, the rotors and Calipers have to be used together to make that work. You can buy new large f/r Rotors from Dilusi that already have the E-brake drum built in if you want. go to http://www.dilusi.com/Frame.Asp?Fram...te\StageII.asp to see those rotors. :yesnod:
It is possible to do this swap with custom caliper bridges. You do not really want to for two reasons. 1) the brake proportioning will be way off caused by the larger volume of the front calipers VS the smaller stock rears. This will probably cause a loss of breaking power on the rear wheels under heavy breaking. 2) The bad proportioning will also give your ABS and stability control systems fits ! It may look good but is a really bad idea. If larger brakes are necessary, go with a coordinated kit from a vendor on the forum.

Great response CHJ in Virginia! This topic has been beaten to hell on the Forum. Although it is "physically" possible to mount front calipers on the rear (and if you use the Eradispeed +1 rotors you won't lose the e-brake) your braking bias will be totally screwed. The stock rear calipers do about 1/3 of the braking, while the fronts do the other 2/3rds. Putting front calipers on the rear will result in equal braking force between the front and rear...not a good thing! The car will be almost impossible to control in a hard stop, not to mention the fact that the ABS computer will go nuts. Now if someone would just build a proportioning valve that would solve this issue, I'd be first in line to buy it!!! If you don't understand the difference in the calipers, look at these pictures of my 00 coupe.

I learn something new here every day!! Thanks Man!! :blueangel:

We might be wrong on this one. Check out this site that was provided to me by HighRPM: http://www.tradezone.com/vette/apbrakes.html I sent an email to Mell (I hope that's his name!) asking how he installed the valve and if it has caused problems with the computer. I'll post if he replies!!!
