Default C5 drivers side window

Hey guys, my drivers side window is stuck in the down position. When I press the button I can hear a slight tick but that's about it.Where's the 1st place to check, switch, motor? I've been to YouTube and I'm ready to get the panel off but have no idea where to start.Passenger side works fine from this control, so does that eliminate the controller? Is the button bad? Am I in over my head!? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated..

I would jostle the accordion sleeve to the door first and see if power returns. The connectors in the door wear out over time and the contacts inside loosen up. Considering this is your driver's side door it would be opened and closed more frequently than the passenger side, making it more susceptible to wear. This issue is fairly well documented and I believe, I hope I'm quoting him right, Bill Curlee has a write up on pulling the wiring apart.

If it doesn't turn out to be the connectors inside the sleeve then you can diagnose further. If there is complete communication loss to the door the EBCM will send a DTC code that can be checked through the DIC. It primarily throws it for lock functions but if all the related DTC codes throw then that could tell you if the wiring is an issue. If you don't see a DTC code then you can likely proceed towards the mechanical parts of the door that would require door card removal.

Well, I watched the videos, rounded up all the tools required and took the door apart. Right off the bat, destroyed 3 of the clips holding the door panel, not so bad..When it came time to remove the speaker I noticed that my "best in the business" stereo installation dude has a hack working for him, I'll deal with him on Monday. Regulator and motor assembly came out easy, once it was out I checked both the motor and the switch, power is getting to the motor from the switch but that's it. I've ordered a new LH regulator and motor assembly, a set of 5 male and female clips and a new sound deaden-er/water proof patch. I'm already looking at the passengers side window, wondering when it will require the same attention..Easy project, just a PITA!!

If you get a click it's the motor. Looks like you already discovered that. Mine started that the day I bought it about 2 months ago. I hit the door panel while holding the switch and it started working and hasn't quit since. Probably just prolonging the inevitable but so far so good.

if you have the panle off hold the button in the up pos and hit sharply where the motor is mounted on the door sometimes the armature just gets stuck this might jolt it to work
