Anyone have information on how to install a 4.10 rear end assembly. I have one dealership telling me 4 hours and a "supposedly more experienced" dealer telling me 8 hours. The more experienced dealer tells me that the rear end has to be re-aligned. Does the computer need reprogramming? Thanks for any assistance - Lost in Tampa.
Re: C5 4.10 Rear End Installation Instructions??? (EditMan)
I can install the rear in about 3 hours. Its pretty easy and straight forward.
1) drain fluids
2) remove rear wheels
3) drop H or X pipe
4) drop rear mufflers
5) unhook shocks, e brake cable, tie rods
6) drop rear crossmember while supporting tranny
7) lower tranny to reference point
8) remove and install new rear carrier
9) reinstall is reverse from removal

4 hours, if that shop will agree to let you pay for just 4 hours labor go with them! It should take 4 hours taking their time but if you're good like Phil and I, it'd be 3 ;). No reprogramming is needed on an MN6.

Phil... you make it seem so easy!!! :)
on my web page is a link to an excellent step-by-step article about doing just that. They go as far as removing the torque-tube from the rear of the engine... but if its just the carrier; then you don't even need to do that.

Hey C5Noir,
Not that I'm an expert but I would think with your setup, you should be in the 11's ET. (esp with 125 NO2) - What kind of tires were you racing with? BTW - How did you like the 4.10 mod?

Thanks Mike for the info... I have one shop here locally that allows me to watch and assist... (since there are some instructions now, I might have them do the work.)

I haven't been to the track to drive it myself (the time in my sig was by my brother, has on experience with the C5 ;) ) since the 4.10s but yes my MPH clearly indicates I can run 11s. I'm going this Friday to try to muster an 11 second pass. However, I run ONLY street tires Nitto 555 Extremes (NOT DRAG RADIALS). I keep stock air pressure etc that way I know what I can do on the street. Sticky tires = 11's with ease. Street tires and 11's, gonna take some hella driving, I'll try for ya'll on Friday though ;)
