Have a 98 with a mild hydraulic roller cam, Fast intake, long tube headers & X-pipe exiting through Billy Boat exhaust. The car currently has no catalytic converters.
Should I have some installed? Plus's and minus's?
Thanks,
If you want to reduce the noise; install
If you want to help the environment; install (of course eventually when the car is junked it's more junk)
I bought new Magnaflow cats when I installed my TSP headers. Wish my car was just a tiny bit louder sometimes...
This. I always go with cats when getting any aftermarket exhaust. I don't want to pollute the environment, you won't lose any power (1-2 hp), and I like my exhaust a little quieter rather than louder.
With your set up, I doubt some cats will quiet things down very much.
The Hi perf carts made today have very little power loss. I'd run them and not worry.
Thanks for your input. I noticed you are from Southlake. Can you recommend a shop in Dallas that is dependable, honest, and most of all does quality work?
Running Kooks long tube headers and x-pipe. Would assume best go with kooks cats also.
Thanks
I would call up Kooks and find out which version of their headers you have, and talk to them on options. You can likely do it without paying a muffler shop to weld in cats.
