I'm replacing the ignition switch due to codes matching up to it being the problem and have gotten to the point of removing it from the car but I can't get the park/lock cable out of the switch. What am I missing here? Thanks in advance for your help. By the way, it is a 2002 auto w/ 102K on it.
Now that it is out does anybody have the trick to getting all 7 of the latches to separate from the ignition? I don't have enough hands to do this--must be some method of getting them apart.
Update--just took my time and pried two at a time and slowly worked my way around it--wasn't easy. Then I heard a bunch of rattling inside and found all the pins and springs out of their respective holes. My advice to whoever does this is try and keep the plastic switch on the bottom when removing. Thanks to the forum for all the help in the past--just fixed my headlight issues( not coming up and the gear stripping) by flipping the stops over and rotating the gear 180 deg. They work perfect now and cost me 0 dollars!

Success!!! Ignition switch is in and NO MORE CODES Started it three times( can't take her out-looks like rain) but absolutely no bells, whistles or anything that's not supposed to be there--just the sweet purr of the LS1. Thanks again to everyone on the forum that takes the time and effort to post the fixes for these cars. Just saved me a trip to the dealer and 300.00 bucks!
