Back in May, I experienced an issue where both windows would not go down. That issue corrected itself a few days later. Now, the passenger window will not go down. Sufficient time has passed, 2 months, and the C5 gods seem to be asleep. Today I decided to troubleshoot the problem. The following is what I have observed and done:
From the driver door control I tried to roll the passenger window down. I heard a relay in the passenger side click and a few seconds later it clicked again.
From the passenger door control I did the same thing and got the same results.
I removed both, drivers and passenger window control switches and "reseated" all connectors. No help.
Removed passenger door panel to gain access to the control box. Reseated all connectors on the control box. Again, no help.
Accessed the window motor and regulator. When I felt the motor it was hot. Hotter than I expected.
I unplugged the motor connector and ran continuity checks back to the control module. That checked good.
Checking the voltage at the motor connector while activating the down switch showed 12 volts while the relay activated. After a few seconds the voltage disappeared. Just like when I heard the relays click before.
My feeling after all this is that my motor and/or regulator has "bit the dust". The reason for the post is to get some confirmation before I spring for a new mechanism. Is there something that I have missed?
Thanks ahead of time for any help.
I had this same problem. I read on the forum to take a large screwdriver and put it on the bolt under the little plastic cover that is in the door handle area, then give it a good whack. My window has worked ever since I did this. I also saw were some people have broken things doing this so I take no responsibility if you hit it too hard. My understanding was the window gets stuck due to a lack of use. Good Luck.

If you still have the door panel off, give the back of the motor a solid whack with a screwdriver handle. It would also be helpful if someone is holding the down button on one of the switches.

Given the nature of the common fix above, and the cost of a new regulator, I'd probably spring for the new regulator. Clearly, the motor is getting power, so if it's not moving and you can't clearly see a reason for it to be bound up, that's the next thing to check.
If you need the car to drive for work, I'd call around and find a place that had the regulator in stock. Might get lucky. Now, without buying that, tear your current one out and inspect to find what's wrong. Either fix whatever simple item is misaligned, or go get the new regulator. If you don't need the car, then tear that window regulator out and you'll quickly know where the problem is.
Not to revive an old thread, but I am experiencing the same issue with my passenger window and rather than doing the banging method, I'd rather just replace the regulator assembly since it seems relatively straight-forward to do.
I was wondering if all brand regulators are basically the same or is there a specific one I should get?
Appears to be OEM, but all the reviews are saying that you need to purchase and slice in a separate connector since the motor is smaller/different from the factory one?
