I need to replace the engine in my 03 c5, my engines has a cracked block so I'm really just wondering what cars i can pull a block from, or if anyone has a reasonably priced shortblock. Will a motor from an 02 Camaro work? I want something that will bolt in connect to all my connectors and go. I don't want to modify things to make them fit and then have to have the car tuned. Basically I'm wondering what year/ model cars I can pull motors from. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I would think the easiest approach would be to check with some of the forum vendors that offer used parts and see if they have short blocks available. That should be a simple bolt in. Try Vettenuts (Tennessee) C&S Corvette Parts (Florida, I believe) or Northern Corvette (Canada).
Best wishes with your fix!

Well, for that you need a LS1, either from a C5 Vette or a Camaro with the C5 parts swapped onto it. There are no other engines you can use that could be installed that wouldn't require tuning.

Your '03 C5 came with a LS6 block so you don't want to replace it with a (slightly inferior) LS1 block, especially if you plan to upgrade the PCV system. You can pull a LS6 block from any '01-'04 C5 or a '04-'05 CTS-V. I'm not sure if the LS6 block was used in the F-body.

My 03 came with the LS1 motor, and I'd just like to replace it. I know someone selling an 02 Camaro LS1 longblock, and I just want to know if all the parts from my motor will bolt up to that, and if I'll have to have it tuned. I did try a few of the venders, but they weren't much help. Thanks again for any help you can offer.

In 2001 GM began using the LS6 block for the LS1, making the primary difference between LS1 and LS6 the cams. An 02 Camaro LS1 should swap right over, but it might be using the older LS1 block. As for needing a tune, shouldn't need one if everything is the same.
