Console lights when door is opened
I have a 98 and when you open the door the lights in the console speedo, tach etc, dont come on (are they supposed to?) I seen an 01 and the lights come on when the door is opened.Maybe its just on the 01 models I dont know.

The only lights that should come on are the ones in the rear view mirror and the ones in the door controls on the arm rest. And, they should only come on if it's dark. If it day time and light out they should not come on.
Oh yes, when you open the door, the security light in the gage cluster should flash.
The mirror lights will saty on for about 10 minutes after the door is closed unless you start the car.

PS! Depending on what you has set in your options, your dash lights may flash (along with parking and backup lights) when you disarm the alarm and the parking lights may stay on until you open the door, but my dash lights do not stay lit under any circumstance?

My '01 Coupe dash lights up when the door is opened.
Can't say if it happens during daylight or not, but they are
definitely on at if the ambient light is low. The first few times, I thought I
left the parking light switch on.
As stated before, it may be a setup option.

On mine...if the door is unlocked and I open it I just get the mirrors and courtesy lamps. If the door is locked and I use the key fob to unlock the door, because of my DIC settings, my parking lights, fog lights, interior lights and dash lights come on. When I first turn the key the mirrors go off but the dash lights stay lit. :D

I dont know if mine has a problem or if it is just on the newer models,but all the lights come on except the console.When you turn the light's on they come right on though.maybe someone with a 98 will know. Thanks for all the other posts guys.

On my 03' the lights that come on inside are; dash, footwell, mirror and trunk.
