Default Gas Tank Repair ??????????????

Hi All:
So I have been bit by the gas tank/crossover pipe connection failure. In other words the glued joint between the white bung and the tank itself is leaking on my 2004. I contacted the stealership and was quoted $1060.66 for the tank and $40.70 for pads plus tax. Ouch, seriously for a plastic tank?!
So my question is, has anyone found an epoxy, silicone, glue or the like which can be used to seal this connection joint?
Any input is appreciated and thanks in advance!

Seems to me the first step is a call to Vettnuts or another of the vendors of used parts -- you may well find a set of used post-recall tanks.

Another vote for Vettenuts (personally had good experience) or other sourced used part. Also you hear about so many horrific dealer service experiences that I would rather go to a local shop that truly values their reputation.

In my opinion I'd rather have a used part than a brand new part that has been sitting on a shelf somewhere deforming/deteriorating for 14+ years.

Unfortunately a well known extended warranty problem...definitely make sure you get one that is not part of the of the defective VINs. Here is the most complete post on the topic:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-leaks-15.html

And here are the VINs affected:
2004
Chevrolet
Corvette
45110258 to 45125500

The extended warranty is long since expired (10 years)...but at least you can get a parts list!
