Any tricks to get the motor to start working again. I really dont want to remove the regulator, looks like a real cluster, not to mention expensive. There is voltage at the motor connector.

Unfortunately you're going to have to take the door apart. The problem I had on both of my windows (they both went bad within 2 weeks of each other) was that the holder of the idler wheel broke. I wound up just putting a screw in place of the plastic tabs. But it was a pain to get the wire to go over the wheels. Good luck.
Some people have reportedly had luck by giving it good whack with something solid. The motor tends to get bound up and if freed up will work like new. Like always ymmv but it's free.
So is there a way to remove the motor cover ( and be able to reinstall it without the brushes getting in the way) or remove the whole motor with worm gear without the regulator getting out of whack.
also, are there any lube points on the regulator, ie pivot points, tracks.
As BigGun mentioned, you could try giving the door a solid thump.
The motor is basically located between the window switch and the door release handle. While holding the window down button give the door panel a good thump with your hand. Others have used a rubber mallet under the door. I personally had the door panel off and while a friend held the down button on the driver's door, I gave the back of the motor a whack with a screwdriver handle. I "fixed" mine about 6 years ago and haven't had a problem since. I do cycle the windows fairly frequently which I believe helps (I have a window valet so I open the windows to let the heat out of the car when I'm approaching)
One other thing to note. If you press the window switch you should hear a click. If it does, then the thump technique may work. If not, you may have another issue than a stuck motor.
I agree with the WACK method. It worked for me 1 1/2 years ago and still no further problems. I removed the plastic tab under the arm rest that shows 2 bolt heads. Then I took a long screwdriver and placed it on the right end bolt head. While someone was continuing tapping the window's down button because it was in the up position, I used a rubber mallet and tapped the back of the screwdriver firmly but not aggressively. After a few taps, the window came down. Going forward, I 'exercise' both windows every time I drive. I also do not jam the window into the up position. I leave a small space. Since I do not drive the Corvette at night, I also exercise the headlight motors. Hope this simple fix works for you.
On each of my windows, I heard something hitting the door. It sounded like it came from outside, but it was the idler piece breaking off. Here's the piece with my fix of putting a screw through it.
When I bought my Vette in May the driver regulator sounded like it was cracking a box of stir sticks every time I rolled the window up or down. Keeping in mind I’ve never done that job before I had it done I under 2 hours.
it wasn’t expensive, I got a regulator listed as new for around $40 on eBay.
I hit mine hard right by the door handle as I held down the button on the drivers side and it started working again just don't put it up all the way leave a very small gap at the top. Been working fine for almost a year now...Hope I didn't jinx's myself
