Default Head Choice for modded C5 Z06

Hey guys,

i screwed up a spark plug hole.and tried the back tap and didnt get very good results. Got the spark plug in deep enough to drive it till.the season is over.

Im trying to plan my next modifications to do over the winter.

I was originally planning to boost the car with a single turbo, but.now with the head issues im thinking it might be a good idea to get some aftermarket heads.

My car is currently :

Stock bottom end
MS4 cam with dual PAC springs/TI retainers
CHE trunion upgrade with Manton pushrods
ARH 1 7/8th headders to catless X-Pipe
Stock TI cat back
Halltech Killer Bee 2 intake
Romac 25% underdrive pulley

Car made 470/400 to the tire.
Best pass is 12.00 @119mph

Any heads that would complement my cam? Any heads that will complement a turbo setup if I choose to go that route down the line?

Im open for options.

Thanks!

Call TSP since they made your cam. Quite a few cars on LS1 tech running MS4 with PRC stage 2.5 with very good results. I've personally bought TF 220's from Tooley before which I was very happy with. But I'm going to try PRC 227's this time around.

you can time sert the head for the sparkplug issue I have one in mine and it has worked out great....

http://www.timesert.com/html/sparkplug.html

if you really want heads my vote is for Mast 225 …. they are on sale for the bare head.,,, they are a bit more pricy than most but the 11^ valve angle is very nice and im a bit bias... I went to highschool with Cary Chonarid (the guy that used to own ETP and then went to work for Mast until recently) so the heads are his design. plus they work....really well.

whats your setup?

TSP was not very helpful. They said not to waste money on the prc but to get the as cast heads
. They said maybe 5-9 hp difference...

So they said don't bother with the CNC ported heads I assume you mean? Sounds like good honest advice. 5-9 hp for $600 is your call.

yes exactly. I guess you have a point, im all for saving money, but not at the expense of quality. Is the only difference the machining of ports?? They guy at TSP couldnt disclose that info loi. I would assume both are the same castings...

Yeah I think they sell both their custom casting as-is, or that same casting, then also put thru their CNC program. Might be able to mill down the head a little too, to bump compression ratio a bit, if you have the piston to valve clearance.

Id like to go FI down the line. Maybe leave the cc bigger?

if you want to boost it plan on swapping cams as well, the one you have is less than ideal for boost... as far as heads, you can easily make 800 or more on stock cast 243s/799s so those would work fine if you don't want to go too crazy
