So this is one of those issues that only happen to me. I went out this morning and started her right up to move in driveway to install 2 new 02 sensors with no problems. Got done, lowered car, and then went to start her and she will not turn over. All the lights on the dash light up, but when key is turned nothing happens. I hear clicks and bells. The car is a automatic with 82k miles. I was careful when installing sensors and did not go near starter wires. So since I am new to this I am asking for help. I am somewhat limited on my electrical knowledge, but some things I have tried already:
1-clean resistor to make sure it was not dirty.
2-checked battery-12.5 volts
3-There are no DTC codes showing
4-I moved the shifter through gears to see if safety switch was maybe not making good connection.
5-Checked battery cables to make sure they were tight
6-I checked the fuses (14 and starter fuse) when I turn key to start I hear a distinct clicking in the BCM next to fuse panel.
I am at a loss here, don't know if it's a vats issue, ignition switch, or something else. Any help is appreciated.

Did you check both ends of the battery cable? Check the connection at the starter. If the connections are clean and tight you can check to see if you are getting 12.5 volts at the starter when you turn the key.

I have not verified 12.5v at starter, I will try tomorrow. From what I have researched I am going to try the theft relay bypass to see if car turns over, is this the right step IF I have verified voltage at starter?
You could try that first then go to the starter if it doesn't turn over. You could use a meter on the tdr and see what kind of voltage you are getting.

If you've already verified voltage at the starter , you can assume that the TDR is working. Check the voltage coming out of the TDR first.

So some thing I have tried to day with no luck:
Charged the battery to make sure it was good, still no crank.
I have longtubes so it's hard to check starter, i did try to lightly tap it to see if anything happens, no go.
I tried the theft relay jump, (purple wire to red wire) and got nothing, just some mild sparks but no crank.
So the more I get into it the more lost I am. I have a multi meter so where should I be going next?
It's usually thew simple things first. I have headers so I was terrified at removing the starter. Since the theft relay jump did not spin the starter I took a chance that it was actually bad. Spent all day removing it, it was fun. Bought a new one and bam it turned righter over.

Good to hear it is resolved, and inexpensively. Not sure why it didn't work when you jumped that relay unless you weren't attempting to start it with the terminals jumped, or had the wrong terminals shorted.
