So I'm planning for replacing my spark plugs soon just for maintenance. Due to unknown previous spark plug service history and some horror stories of broken plugs, I want to increase my chances of success while removing them. Any tips on removing them to avoid breakage? Remove on a warm or cold engine? Use liquid wrench? Use of anti-seize when putting them back? I'd appreciate some helpful tips.
Figure plug wires are questionable, if plug's age is unknown. GM red wires are the best compromise in price/performance, and use a dab of anti-seize of the plug's threads, and a swipe of dielectric grease, on the spark plug wire boots. IIRC, the torque for the plugs is 14-15 ft/lbs.

Plug torque is 11 lb/ft, and both AC Delco and NGK say not to use anti-seize (but like many here I do, just a little). Good tools to have around are Lisle 51410 spark plug boot pliers and GearWrench 80546 wiggle plug socket.
I just did my plugs and wires. The black thingy up against passenger rear plug is just clipped onto the frame rail. Just pull it up comes right off and you have access to #8 plug. Sorry wrong forum I have a C6.

It would be interesting to see anyone torque their sparkplugs when the motor is in the car!! I have NEVER seen or heard of anyone torquing their plugs!!! I know I never have. At some point you have to develop a "feel" for tightening things. Torque wrenches are great, but they sometimes can't be used in tight spaces. Also, who cares if you break the ceramic off the plugs on their way out? It's only important you don't break them during install....
