I have two rear ends-one is a 3:15 the other is a 2:79?. when you look at them from the front where the trans. shaft goes, one is solid except for the shaft hole. The other has an opening where you can see the gear..The 3:15 is the solid one. Whats the difference in the rwars other than ratio?
the housing of the 3.15's is stronger then the other one. If you were going to rebuild a Carrier (rear end) you would want the 3.15 or 3.45 housing to rebuild. :smash:
Difference is one is missing the rear plate. Automatic cars have the plate six speeds don't. Both rears can be used for either application. The (2.79) if from a Corvette is a 2.73 :yesnod:
Their is no plate missing, when i pulled the trans off of both i did both the same, one actually has a cut out where you can see the ring gear and the other on does not.
