HPR made a 468 LS that someone is testing in a C5 track car. I'm kind of surprised they managed to squeeze 468 cubes into a standard deck height LS block, but apparently it fits.
Why? You would make more power out of most anything well-built LSx, not to mention how compatible all the major go-fast LSx parts are with circa-gen C5s.
You can probably fit in a 572 or something, but it'd be really heavy. There's no replacement for displacement ... but if you can get away with it, just use boost to get to your target power level - remember, you can fit 454 (or more, probably) cubic inches with an LSX or LSx-variant.
With that much torque you better back it up with a 2.29 1st gear ZR1 TR6060 transmission with a '09-13 C6 Z06 / ZR1 differential and axles not to mention a HD torque tube setup. Plus that iron block 8.1L Vortec is going to make that car way nose heavy - but hey to each his own.
That is an interesting article, however, it's over 10 years old. A LOT of LS development work has been done since then, which I would think would make the need to do THAT much work to install a big block, ineffective.

I totally agree, but the OP wanted to know if it could be/had been done. Obviously, an LSX is a saner option, or even just forced induction. A lot cheaper, too.
