Default steering joints

How long should steering joints last on a c5. Mine has done 60000 never crashed or dropped in a pothole.

It depends on what "Steering joints" you are talking about, are your talking about the upper and lower ball joints, the tie rod ends (both inner and outer) or the steering rack bushings. For the tie rod and ball joints lift up the front or rear tire and check for movement when holding the tire in the 6 & 12 o'clock position and pushing and pulling on them, for the tie rod bushings hold it at 6 & 9 and move the tire from side to side. There should be no play in the wheel when doing that. Or you can take it to your local repair shop and have them perform the checking. For the steering bushings, you have to visually inspect the steering rack with the car in the air to see if there is any deformity. My 2000 has 41K on the system, I heavily autocross/HPDE the Corvette (about 20+K miles) and I have only had to replace the rear inner tie rod on the drivers side. When I check two weeks ago, mine are just starting to get some tie rod joint movement and will be replace next spring. The ball joints were surprisingly OK.
