Can the engine be run without the serpentine belt on to locate a squeak. Also, can the A/C belt be removed and the engine run? Trying to find a squeak when the engine is running. The squeak is repetitive, not random. New alternator, A/C compressor, and water pump. 1998 convertible...
Another piece of information is that if I spray water on the power steering pulley when the engine is running, the squeak goes away momentarily.
I'm experiencing the same problem with the weather change and a heavy rain. Supposedly upgrading your belt to a gatorback fixes this issue. At the moment I am under the impression that it is being caused by failing bearings in a pulley(s) by offering more resistance thus increasing wear.
You can most certainly start the car without an A/C belt as the compressor when off is disengaged from its clutch anyways and the pulley is simply spinning free.
