Doing A/C compressor replacement, just pulled water pump, one bolt on driver's side wouldn't come out all of the way because it hit the ABS module, so will have to remember to put it back in hole of water pump before getting it lined up on block.
Anyways, coolant got all over the a/c drive belt, and main crank pulley.
The belt is only a year old, so I want to reuse it, do I need to really clean the coolant off belt and crank pulley, or is it not that of a big deal other than wiping it off with paper towels?
I have simple green.
Also on water pump gaskets (my first LS water pump replacement, but reusing pump) would it be ok to use a little RTV sealer to hold the gaskets (metal fel pro) to the water pump like you do on old SBC and BBC water pumps?
Yes, wire brush the bolts. Don't put anything on the threads. I agree with Pounder, the belt will be fine and a little dab of silicone to hold the gasket in place does no harm. Good luck!
