Default 18 HP Performace gain from Hypertech PPIII

I just came back from my third dyno run. This run was only to verify the performance gain from the Hypertech Powerprogrammer III and from the 160 Degree stat from Hypertech. I didnt expect too much, if ANY gain at all. The more surprised i was after the run. Here the before (incl. B&B Triflow, K&N gen II FIPK, see sign. for all info) and after details:

Before:

350,8 HP (SAE cor.) = 258 KW at 5610 RPM, Max torque 356 ft/lb at 4590 RPM, Engineoil temp. at 110 Degree Celsius

After:

368,5 HP (SAE cor.) = 271 KW at 5720 RPM, Max torque 368 ft/lb at 4660 RPM, Engineoil temp. at 90 Degree Celsius

Together with the tuning i raised the engine limiter by 100 RPM.

Thats a gain of about 18 HP and 12 ft/lb just from the Hypertechtuning. I was "shocked" when i saw the results, because most of the people here in the Forum reported no gain at all from this tuning process.

Here the link to the printout from the run. Dont get fooled by the numbers. On the left ist Kilowatts and on the right its Newtonmeters. Both get tranfered by 1,3569 to the appropriate US values.

The key to your gain lies in the cooler engine temp, from 230F to 198F , I can tell you from experience that a heat soaked engine can eat up 20 hp with ease...The thermostat gave you lower temps therefore more power. Its going to be my next mod after I install the ZO6 catback I bought yesterday...

Don't waste your time with a cooler thermostat unless you get something (chip, fan controller) to change the on/off settings of your electric fans. The engine won't run much, if any, cooler without changing the fan on temps as well.

The Hypertech PPIII does allow you to change fan on/off settings...

Correct, but I don't see that "Lost" has a PPIII...

Actually you can modify the stock thermostat to open at a lower temp. And the fans can be wired to a switch , which allows you to turn them on at your disgression...

Those are HP meassured at the rear wheel, DIN (german industrial norm) corrected which has about the same specifications lke SAE correction. This was my third run. Here the numbers:

Stock Run 323 HP at 5600 RPM
Run No. 2 350,8 at 5610 RPM (this includes all the Modifikations you can see in my signature)
Run No. 3 368,5 at 5720 RPM added Hypertech and stat.

I know these numbers sound high, but thats what the machine told us :yesnod:
