Default Headlight motor removal question

How are ya'll getting to the nuts on the other side of these bolts? I was able to get the front one out but these other two appear to be pretty difficult. Is there a trick? Thanks.

It's doable and it helps if you don't have Popeye's arms and have a little dexterity . What I did was to remove the black plastic bezel (I didn't have to touch the painted cover) and then detached the linkage lever from motor shaft's end. After doing that, the bucket needs to be supported from below in the open position (I used a plastic rod I had around that had the right length), but since it can now be opened a bit more, it leaves you a little more room to get to those nuts.

I found it faster and easier than the more traditional method of removing the whole assembly.

I installed the brass gears in my motors, a few years back. As I recall, I removed the entire headlight assembly in a single unit, and then separated the motor from the frame, on my workbench.

Thanks. I removed the plastic shroud and the painted cover. Still a tight fit down there. Damn.

IIRC, I used a 1/4 drive socket on one side and a small open/box end on the other

Thanks. Got it taken care of. Major pain that’s for sure.

I agree....remove to bucket and place on a bench.
