I hope this isn't a stupid question, but I hear alot of people say active handling suspension. On my 97 I have the F45 suspension with the adjustable **** on the center console. Are these the same or something completly different? Also, my buddy can put his car in competition mode. Is that what active handling is? Thanks!
Re: Is F45 the same as active handling (1 slow 97)
F45 is also known as "real time damping". Its adjusting the shock valving based on the **** setting and the suspension inputs it receives.
"Active Handling" usually refers to the use of the braking system to help prevent spinning the car. The computer can apply a single brake on one of the wheels to counter a spin. Look at GM's Corvette web site for an animation of who it works.
I forget the exact year Active Handling was introduced, but I think it was 2000. So I don't think your car has it.
"Competition Mode" is engaged by holding down the traction control button for a few seconds. Normally the traction control button turns on and off both traction control and active handling (if you have it). In competition mode, traction control is turned off, but active handling is still on.
