I decided my no start problem was caused by vats system so I did the by-pass resistor thing. The starter still will not crank. A few members have suggested hitting the starter or solenoid. Seemed like a good idea but I have no idea where the starter is located. I have not been able to find it from above or below
The sure fire way to determine if your starter solenoid is the cause of your no crank problem is to connect a DMM to the switch terminal on the solenoid. Connect positive lead to switch terminal and negative lead to negative terminal on battery, if 12 volts is present at terminal when ignition switch is turned to start position and starter will not crank, your starter or solenoid is the problem. If no 12 volts at terminal then you could have a bad Theft Deterrent Relay located in passenger foot well area above the BCM module. Not knowing if your car is an auto or manual the problem could be your clutch safety switch or neutral safety switch.
The relay you are looking for is located in the passenger foot well area, lift the cover to expose the BCM and the TDR relay located above it. Have someone try to start the car while you observe the relay, if the relay is working your problem could very well be your starter/solenoid.

I pulled the starter a few days ago . Hard to get at it in a corvette, Checked the solenoid which operated normally and bench tested the starter and the solenoid at an auto parts store. All operated correctly. I put it all back together yesterday and and it started right up. Not sure but my guess corrosion at the wire attachment point on the solenoid was the heart of the problem. So good to get back on the road.
Hi, guys im a newbie on the forum trying to gather some info about my 82 vette starting problem. The little relay in the back near the battery just clicks at the turn of the ignition but the starter will not engage the engine to start. I have taken the starter of to have it checked and it checked out fine, so i will put it back on the car today and keep trouble shooting. This car was a barn find gift from one of my late Dads friends. It has been kept inside the barn for 15 yrs, some minor/major repairs needed with car, but nothing to far out. I tried to turn the engine over manually first to make sure it wasnt locked up and it turned with ease, that was a plus. Installed a new battery but still no start. Any ideas Guys where to go from here?
You should really post this on the C3 section of this forum, I am not as knowledgeable about c3's but there is probably a relay and fuse that is part of the starter circuit, again by posting on the C3 section somebody should be able to help.
