Default C5 Passenger side door latch removal

I am posting this because I could not find any info here on the procedure to remove the door latch on my 2000 C5 Corvette. The problem I was having was that the lock/unlock button would not actuate the lock.
The info pointed to it being the relay contacts, so I did replace the lock and unlock relays and there were excellent directions here to do that. However, in my case it turned out to be the actuator that is part of the lock assembly so I was able to find the part at AutoZone from Dorman, part number 746-011 for the passenger side door. It MAY be the same for the drivers side as well. In any case it cost $34.00.
It is obvious that you have to remove the three size 30 Torx screws that hold the latch but not clear is how to release the rod from the outside door handle. One video for another model said you have to remove the outside door handle assembly and then disconnect the rod from it.

After removing the small Torx screw (one) that holds the inside latch assembly out and allowing the rods that are attach for the release and lock function from it, I was able to remove the three size 30 Torx screws from the latch and allow the latch to swing free enough to examine the plastic threaded piece that holds the rod from the outside latch. This is the most useful part of this whole dialog. You can release the rod by forcing one side of the black plastic piece it passes through to hinge open releasing the rod! After that the rest is obvious like removing the two plugs, unscrewing the two Torx screws holding the lock actuator to the lock and replacing it with the new part. Reassembly is the reverse and the rod from the outside door latch is placed back into the black plastic piece and the top is snapped back into place over it. By the way I did test it before bolting the assembly back into the door to make sure it worked.

Final note, on mine when I pried the old part open and the small electric motor inside was totally rusted and corroded inside by water that had obviously been leaking onto it from the poor seal of the window gasket etc. There may be a good or better solution to keeping that from happening but it lasted this long so I did not do anything about it at this time. The good news is that it works fine now. Hope this helps someone else out.
