alternator pully squeaks

alternator pully squeaks

OK, I've never seen this. My alt. pully is actually two pieces, an inner and outer. And its slipping, and sqeaking. I'd have never found it, but noticed it when the car shuts off I see the outer stop spinning, but the inner part of the pully still spins a little and sqeaks. Can I just replace that pully? This ever happen to anyone here. Y the hell would the pully b two pieces?

Not sure why pulley is in 2 pieces, mine is 1 . You can replace bearings to get rid off strange sounds, it is easy job.

My 99 was a 2 piece pulley. It's said they were used on auto transmission cars to lessen vibration at idle in gear. Stick shift cars were a one piece. I changed mine to a one piece with no ill effects.
