I have a 2002 Z06 with 12k miles that I bought a few years back from the original owner. Dif and trans fluids have never been changed.
So I decided to change them, and was surprised that the fluid from the transmission was dark red, but dirty looking.
Sticking my finger in the drain hole I did not get any "fines" like we see in some differentials or auto trans pans.
Is this normal?
The dif oil was almost clear. the car had original tires when I bought it so I know it was babied and I'm past the point that I run the cars hard.
Trans was quiet, as well as dif.
Hoping the Mobil 1 Synthetic will improve shifting, but that was ok as it was.
I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks for the reply...
That's probably why there are no fines in the bottom, there stuck to the magnets.
I could see doing that if I was going into the case, but this is just a R & R of the fluid.
I know that everybody has their favorite products, and in my 2001, all it has seen is Red Line oils in the tranny and diff, since the car was about a year old.

Is the darker oil common?
Yes, the darker oil is normal with the mileage indicated.
