Default catch can experience

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has some experience installing an oil catch can on a C5 Z06? I did a quick search and did not find anything. I seen one video where they used the Elite Engineering part but at $175 it seems pricey. Are there any other options worth looking at or is this a good one?

Catch can work great. I though i was burning my clutch with hard acceleration but turns out it was oil from the pcv going to the throttle body.

Catch can solved that and i got mine for $25 from ebay

I installed the Elite Engineering catch can in my 03 Z06 last year.
Simple install and I think their price is very reasonable for the quality of their product.
Very happy with it.

I bought one from TPS Motorsports for $59 black friday. Quality looks good. The car is in storage for the winter so I haven't installed it yet.

Before you install one, no matter what the brand, give your intake manifold a good cleaning. You will be amazed at the oil that is gunked up in that thing. I empty my catch can after every track event and every time I change my oil. You will be surprised at how much oil gets collected.

Good luck.

I use a catch can in my other cars and know the value of using one. Taking off the intake to clean it sounds like a big job. I have 27,000 miles on it now so I am hoping it is not too bad yet.

I have the elite engineering E2 catch can and really like it. Honestly you don't need the most expensive catch can, but I highly recommend picking one up that makes disposing of the oil in the can convenient, not the ones that have some valve at the bottom and can possibly create a mess in your engine bay.

I had 18,000 miles on mine when I took the intake off. It was really gunked up, like I mentioned earlier. It's not that big of job to remove the intake. If a knuckle dragger like me can do it, anybody can.

Yes, I was looking at those with the valve on the bottom and that looks very inconvenient and messy. I will likely go with the Elite Engineering standard catch can.

I'm installing a Moroso catch can on my 02Z today, so I'll post some pics when I'm done. The Moroso is a large can design that comes with a C5 specific bracket a ball valve drain on the bottom for easy draining .
