Default Fuel Lines

So it looks like at one time a mouse or something decided to eat some wiring under my rear end and a couple other spots along with the plastic fuel lines coming from the tank. Not sure what since it was before I owned it. anyway, fixing the work that was done im replacing a couple fuel lines from the driver side tank that were replaced with just rubber and a clamp. One is the top line coming off the fuel pump housing going to a tube up on the body. I think its the feed line coming from the other tank the other is the middle one on the fuel pump housing that goes to the fuel filter return. So now that i have explained some background what i did was replace the lines with braided -6AN hose and ends and the correct connectors but i cannot get them to fit in the hole the original ones ran through in the frame, the ends are to big to fit between the body and the frame rail, so I had to run them on the inside rail of the frame. Dont really give me warm fuzzies since the exhaust is right there but I would like to know what everyone else has done thats had to replace the original lines before or did you just buy the replacement plastic lines that cost a mint each.
