Default When to Rebuild the Engine

Hello!

I have a 2003 Zo6 with about 100k miles on it. I was wondering what is the expected life of the engine for the C5's? Just wanted to see how long before I need to rebuild it.

thanks in advance!

Rebuild it when it gives you a reason to need a rebuild. Depending on the history of the engine and how you treat it, it might need a rebuild tomorrow, but it may well not need one for another 150k+ miles.

There isn't one. This is a modern engine, not the engines from 50 years ago.

Expect an easy 200K+ from a well maintained LS.

We had a club member who daily drove his 02 Z06 who worked at GM. When his car had 216,000 miles on it they asked to borrow it for a week to inspect it for wear and tear on the engine. Now this member also heavily autocrossed his Corvette, ran numerous HPDE--it was not a pampered car. The Performance group were mildly surprised at how little wear there was in the engine compartment. They cleaned up everything in the engine compartment--they received it with a lot of dirt/grime--put it back together and thanked him. It now has over 265,000 miles, the engineer passed since and has been sold a few time. Today it is a dedicated autocross car and still kicking.
