Default FAN Temp help needed..

First of all it is still so :cuss :cuss :cuss Hot here in Florida! Give us a break already..It was 92 in Fort Lauderdale yesterday.

Anyway, I have a 172/178 stat and I set my fans using LS1-Edit for the following. Fan 1 on at 184 and off at 180, Fan 2 on at 190 and off at 185.

Problem is even driving at 8-mph my temps NEVER dropped below 181 to 183. It is sooo hot here still. I don't want my fans running non stop...

I have 2 options here.

1. Set the lowest fan setting to turn off at 185 to be safe
2. Try some Redline Water Wetter and hopefully I can get the extra 5 degrees that way.. (I'd like to keep the same DEXcool mixture I have. I'll just pull out enough coolant to replace with the Water Wetter.)

You might try the Redline, I've heard positive things but, no experience. I'm in the high desert country of southern California. Summer temps over 110 many days. I'm running a 160 thermostat with 1st fan on 190 off 185, 2nd 200 195. I'm thinking the 160 is too low and will probably replace with stock for the winter and replace with a 180 next spring and keep the fan turn on/off the same. As it is now, the fans hardly every turn on.

I chose these ranges based on my reading here on CF. Generally it sounds like most seem to think the LS1 runs best in the 180 - 190 range. Cool air yes, but the heads and such need to be heated up.

Good luck,
