I am the owner of a 2003 C5 with exceptionally low mileage 17,165 as this Garage Queen sits in its' stall. Just yesterday, I discovered when I pushed the button to listen to CD's, the factory OE 12 disc player would not play. I slid the door open of the player and the cartridge ejected loaded with 12 CD's. Then I placed it back in, closing the player door and it still did nothing. I am at a loss. Any suggestions as to what the problem is? Thank you in advance for any help.
My thoughts. When you pushed the CD/AUX button, did you get an error reading on the radio face? Even if you did not, I would make sure the disc are correctly inserted into the cartridge.
If you have a CD slot in the radio, is this working properly with the CD?
I'll check this out. I did remove the entire cartridge filled with the 12 CD's and re-inserted. This did not solve the problem, unfortunately. Being that I have a 12 disc unit in the rear, to the best of my memory, there is no single disc entry on the face. No error message appeared on the radio either. I am just at a loss. Thank you for replying.

Try unplugging and replugging the CD changer in the trunk
I was having trouble not getting radio to recognize the remote CD changer. Went to trunk and unplugged the plug at the bottom (rear end) of the changer, then re plugged it with the radio off. Slid the cartridge door open, removed then reinserted the cartridge and closed the door. Changer then went thru the process of loading every CD and then stopped. Waited till this finished before turning on the radio. Turned on the radio and the changer was recognized and working. If you try to turn on the radio too soon you might get the ERR msg on the radio and nothing works at the changer.
I like the idea of unplugging and re-setting. Can this be done without removing the player from its mounting? When unplugging, pull the connector straight out depressing any clips, or just pull?
Here's the latest as I was working with it yesterday ~
Removed the magazine, everything looked good (filled w/ 12 CD's) and reinserted. Since that initial time, it will not eject any more, so I'm not sure what's up with that.
Okay, to the dash board. It is now going into the CD mode and it shows the various discs 1,2,3, etc. but the display for track is 00. Weird! Then in about 10 sec, err is displayed. Maybe the unplugging will do the trick. I will wait for comments before doing anything. Thanks everyone, (for the most part). JCEJr
Called Caton Radio, Catonsville, Md yesterday in your neck bighank, as they used to be an authorized Delco radio repair center when I was a rep for ACDelco 17 yrs ago. Said the err code happens fairly frequently and that they would need to see the changer. That's out, living down her in southeastern NC. Thought they could troubleshoot over the phone for an old rep. No luck! JCEJr
The changer plug pulls straight downward without removing the changer
To pull the plug I believe there is a plastic tab which you squeeze with your fingers and thumb while pushing and wiggling the plug. It goes straight downward toward the bottom of the center well. Wait a short time to let any current in the changer to drop then plug it straight in again. If the door is closed it should cycle thru all 12 CDs. This takes a while. Do not turn on the radio until it finishes going thru this reset or you might get the ERR message on the radio. After say five minutes turn on the ignition and then the radio and see if it works. You should be able to slide the door open and the cartridge should pop up for removal. Should be more details in the AUDIO section of the forum as quite a few of us have had various problems including how to remove a stuck cartridge.
I assume it was working them stopped? When I first had mine many years back, the first time I tried to use it, I inadvertently had the CD's in back to front. Nothing played, needless to say! Felt like a real idiot.
It's a Pioneer made unit, BTW

Mine has a reset "button" for a pen pin or paper clip close to the door. You could also try there, not sure what it is supposed to do, mine came without CD basket and is now dismantled.
good luck.

I recently found that the connector on the 12 disk player had a bad connection where the male enters the female connector. It was the power wire to the player. Plugs are NLA but I was able to buy a few of the metal male ends. I never did change them but just altered the metal a small amount to get the connection back. I think that it was the orange wire, but don't quote me on that. That got the power back on. Then I had trouble with disks getting jammed. I sent it to Doctor Don's in Texas and he altered the design a bit . Then I remounted the player to accept the cartridges horizontally by drilling new holes in the brackets. It's been working fine now for a few weeks.
