Default Turn ONE? or stock pump?

1999 FRC .. Power Steering pump has gone bad , maybe from lack of use? 44000 org miles , my question aside from my apprehension to actually do the job ,it looks like a PIA ! Is it worth the extra coin for the Turn One Pump and pulley or should I just get a new ,or rebuilt pump and the #12568997 pulley and save the money . Pretty big difference in the two offerings !

Turn One has an outstanding reputation for quality. I had them rebuild my pump with their performance upgrade (a little more steering effort) and I love it. Wasn't that cheap, but you get what you pay for. I'm sick and tired of leaking rebuilt Chinese junk.

I put the 12568997 pulley on my rebuilt pump to save some money. Works great.

My turn one pump shipped today, I hope it don’t leak like the rebuild junk I have replaced twice.

I'm looking to eliminate mine aand go electric. I was looking at the mini electric pump but they tend to go out quite often... so I'm looking at a Volvo pump (they actually say Fo Mo Co. on the side a throw back to when ford owned them LOL!) to drive the extra current I've ordered a Mechman high output alt..... that and an electric water pump should make things interesting under the hood

I installed a turn one last year. It has a great feel and according to them adds a little extra HP. Removing the old one was the biggest PIA. I used a occilating cutter to cut a groove in the old plastic pulley to get at all the bolts easily.

Ordered the Turn One Pump and Pulley! After pulling old pump off I decided ..PIA hope it goes easier putting it on, I went with the Turn One pump so hopefully I won't have to do again. Any recommendations on the fluid to use? I will have to flush my old fluid out after install so will need extra. Thanks

Make sure it’s 100% synthetic. I have used both Amsoil and Redline power steering fluid with good results.

Default Success!

Ah life's little victories .. The new Turn One pump and pulley was installed this afternoon , I have read some saying this "was easy " and or "not too bad" , my experience was It's a PIA . so hard to get to the fasteners . It is doable but its harder then it should be. I broke the job up to three sessions, one disassembly, "then ordered pump " after it showed up I installed , then the next week I flushed system and rack with new synthetic fluid . felt really good to do this myself , thanks to Froggy and his video ,this gave me a good idea what was involved in this repair! If you haven't changed your power steering fluid yet ,I recommend you do it ,way easier then this job ..ha It's DONE I got my sexy car back in time for upcoming spring and a wedding reception latter next month... hearing that LS1 fire up with the Borla Stingers , music to my ears.

Literally just had my Turn One pump shipped. I asked for a pump for good street/track manners, workable with wide sticky tires. They recommended their 1800 PSI setup (told me to order their standard one, and just write in the comments to go 1800 instead of 1500.) Said it'd have a bit more effort at idle but a lot better on the track. Exciting stuff.

At 95xxx miles, I had Abel put in a PS cooler. They were like, have you noticed an issue in higher effort required to turn the wheel at idle? I said nope. They checked and said the pump seems to be putting metal in the fluid. Oh well, time for a new pump. Took the opportunity to upgrade.

Seems to me that between paying for an extra direction of shipping, their fancy unit isn't that much more expensive than a stock rebuilt one.

Also I got the fancy pulley because I am a sucker for billet anything.

I used a Turn-One pump and pulley on a LS1 RX-7 swap. They make a great product and are service oriented. Will Def use them in the future. The pulley alone is worth it's weight in gold just for access to the bolts (and it's not plastic like OEM)
But I gotta ask.... What's that black 'Thing' that looks like its sticking out of your hood in post #1? Kinda detracts from a nice pic of a sharp looking car.

I do recommend the Turn One pulley or C6 pulley if you are changing pumps. The spokes make getting to the bolts much easier.
