You guys see any problems with opening up drain plug to take out a lil excess? I filled it a smidge over full....cant I just loosen plug a lil and take some out? Or will plug not seat right again unless I empty and clean area then tighten??? Dumb question...I know
A "smidge" over full isn't a problem. Trying to drain out "just a bit" isn't worth it if the overfill is 1/2 quart or less.
Another more fun alternative to reducing the oil level is to drive really fast at high rpms -- Chevy recommends overfilling for racing purposes -- you can probably burn off the "smidge" in no time.

You dont have to drive really fast, just spin the motor at or near redline for a good 20 min and that will take care of your problem :yesnod: Ehs is right, that it's not worth it to try to drain it out :seeya
I think they are right, but if you must get a little out, you can always pull the filter. For other reasons, I had to do this once and it worked well. I dumped about half of the oil (more runs down and out and is very messy) and re-seated the filter without problem. :yesnod:

If you HAVE to remove oil, and don't have a suction pump, I think the filter is the way to go. Trying to get just a little out of the drain plug would be a messy PITA.
