Default Steering rack removal tip

So I spent the weekend pulling the motor down in preparation for the cam and heads install. All went well other than the coolant disaster all over the place. I read how a lot of people steuggle getting the rack out. Some use pry bars and other lower the cradle. I simply removed the two bolts holding the ABS module, moved it slightly and the streering rack pulled right up with no issues. Took about five minutes,

My 98 has the ABS controller behind the differential. Lots more room up front. Sometime or other, I think that they changed the cradle to give the rack more clearance for removing. Some have to drop it....and some dont. I did.

I had to lower the cradle and use a pry-bar (carefully) to get mine out

I really didn't think much about my ABS pump being rear mounted and how much easier it made it. I had my rack out in minutes also (probably 20 minutes taking it easy) Chock that up to a rare plus to owning an early C5.
