Syncronise C5 headlights ?

Buddies '98 had passenger side headlight motor start making noises. He swapped it out with a new one.Now it goes up when the driver side goes down etc. He has tried using the manual adjust to syncro them, pulled arm off of motor and moved shaft 180 then put arm back on. I've been trying to help him, but even comparing to operation of driver side we can not find what wrong. What are we missing ?

Had this problem myself. The wiring harness from the motor to the “car” is upside down. Flip it!

Thanks. I'll relay info to friend. I thought the connector could only be put together one way.

The arm could also be on the wrong side of the stops,

Connector can't be reversed due to locking tab. Stops were checked and they are ok. Friend took old motor apart and moved gear to allow good teeth contact. Reinstalled and everything works like its suppose too. New gears ordered. We now suspect faulty "new" motor that he purchased though Ebay with no return policy from auto parts supplier.
