Default C6 TPMS for C5?

In upgrading the C5 TPMS, can you use one from a C6?
I have a 2000 model and can’t seem to find the “upgrade” to the 2001-2004 TPMS. So I’m wondering if I could use one from a C6?
Thanks!

Rockauto has tire pressure monitor sensors for 2001 to 04 Corvettes. For the receiver check with vettenuts.net

You'll need a reciever from a 2001-2004, new TPMSs from 01-04 (readily available) and new key fobs for 01-04 (rediculously cheap). If you haven't already done the reciever, you'll need a new pigtail for wiring up the new reciever. I bought my reciever at an online salvage yard for $50. Could not be happier with the upgrade.

Why would you want to do that? The 97-00 sensors are no longer that expensive. Can get a
set of 4 NEW Schrader 28006 sensors on eBay for $170 shipped.

Most people do the mod when their key fobs become inoperable. Have you priced a key fob for a 97-00 lately?

Yup, they are $90. So $260 for 4 new sensors and an original Key Fob. How much is the conversion to a 01-04 set up???? Not to mention it needs to be
installed.

It cost me $70 for the receiver and the wiring. I installed it myself. My TPMS sensors were weak, so I had to replace them anyway. The newer ones are cheaper than the older ones. And two key fobs were $8.

I could have spent the 80 or 90 for a new fob, and bought the new TPMS sensors. I chose to upgrade the receiver

I can't seem to find one except used ones on e-Bay for a lot of money. I can get the pigtail and everything else, just not the receiver. If you know of a good source, I would appreciate the link.
Thanks!

There has been problems with the remotes for a long time and I'm starting to get intermittent "Service TPMS" on my DIC. I figured it would be a good time to do it, if I can find a receiver. I had an 05 C6 back in 2008. I really liked how it could detect me and unlock the doors and then lock them when there was no FOB detected. I thought it would be great if I could use one from a C6, since it was a C5.5 LOL. It only crossed my mind to do it when I couldn't find a new 01-04 Receiver.

Did you recently find the receiver for $70? Could you give a brother the link or tell me where to go?
Thanks!

I browsed the online salvage yards and found one. The ebay ones are picey. also, check craigslist for people parting out their cars and/or post a WTB in the forum parts section. You'll find one for the right price if you're patient. They are not hard to install if you are at all mechanically inclined.

www.tpms.com also sells them. I have the Schraders and they work excellent, and are compatible with the magnet relearn procedure.

Check out www.contemporarycorvette.com for an updated receiver. I bought a 2003 receiver from a wreck there for my '98. They threw in the connector for free. $30.00 for the receiver.
Three wires, all the colors match and takes no more than 15 minutes to change it out... New tire sensors for the upgraded receiver at Amazon for $43.08 each.
