hey guys, any input helps! I tried finding this in other posts but couldn't find the same problem... So, the car has a really annoying humming sound. Kind of like an airplane, when I go above 30mph. I thought maybe it was just an air hose or something so I was checking and found one which was cracked and replaced it but it still didn't go away. If I depress the clutch, the sound goes away and also if I let go of the gas it goes away or, if I simply don't go above 30, you can't hear it. Also, the sound is nonexistent when in neutral so I'm thinking it has something to do with the transmission but, I have never worked on a transmission so I don't know much about them except, they are really difficult to work on.. If anyone has any idea what this could be, I would really appreciate it! -Angel, Have a great day everyone!
If you shift to neutral and idle the engine at 50 mph, does the sound go away? How about if you leave the car in in gear or drive and simply ease off the throttle at 50 mph?

It's manual... and it only makes the noise if I'm on the gas with the car in gear
Might be off base here, but is your exhaust stock? Could it be exhaust related?
The only thing done to the exhaust is that the previous owner cut one of the tips off each muffler and drilled 2 holes into the pipe itself. Kind of like a bypass in a way
A drone noise could be rear tires, rear diff, air escaping the cabin, etc
You said when rolling and push the clutch, the noise stops. Have you tried doing the same, but reving the motor while rolling on to see if it gets louder or stays the same? that will def eliminate your engine.

With the clutch pedal depressed -- and the car moving! -- the torque tube, transaxle input shaft, differential, and axle shafts are all still spinning, no? I'm thinking that narrows the noise down to the engine/exhaust. Fuel pump is more or less constant, but air injection is tied to RPM. Noise goes away with closed throttle. That sounds like exhaust (no pun intended).
If you rev the motor while sitting still, does the noise occur, or only when at speed?

Tried this and there's no drone noise when I rev the car with the clutch in.. maybe it's the tranny 😥

Wouldn't the exhaust still make the sound if I have the clutch in and revving the engine?
