Default Dreaded washer pump issue

I tested the pump straight to the battery and it works, I used a voltmeter on the plug and I have 12 volts when the button is pressed but when I plug it in and test the voltage on the wires when it is pressed the voltage spikes then immediately goes to zero??? any ideas

Oh, Haha! I had a brain fart and thought you had an electric water pump that you were having issues with.

You have a bad connection somewhere. My guess is in the multi function switch but could be anywhere. A wiring diagram would be helpful.

The wire right at the pump was had been hot enough that it actually turned light brown from pink. I'm not sure what caused that but I replace that section of wire with no effect. The wire seems to go towards the front of the car and then at some point turns around to head back towards the interior. I am going to purchase a new OEM switch install that see if that is the issue and if necessary wire it directly from the switch through the firewall to the pump. I have no other ideas on what it could be or what to do.
