Default Idle jumps at start, need advice.

Ever since I installed a GM ported throttle body, a cold start produces about 2100 rpms for about 3 seconds before the normal idle kicks in. I've heard that most of an engine's wear happens at start-up. Is 2100 rpm too high for a cold engine to see for the first few seconds? What should be normal? 1300-1500 rpms?

Idle at startup is determined by intake air temp IAT, so your idle will depend on the temp, however, 2100 is too high regardless. In fact, 1300-1500 is too high also. I don't recall what idle is for mine at startup on a cold day, but I don't recall it being that high.
