I have been helped so many times by the guys and gals on this Forum I love to share new and easy ways to fix things on the C5. What I am sharing today is how to change front turn signal bulbs in less than 30 seconds! The Front air intake for the brakes is the secret. Take the air intake and slide it back just enough to get it off the holding edges. Then gently push down on it and if your hand is normal size, not to big, you will be able to reach the bulb holder. Grab the holder and feel for the plastic release lever on the bulb holder. Turn it counter clock wise, it may be stuck to the plastic so take your time and it will come loose, then there will be enough wire on the bulb holder to get the bulb holder and bulb out the front air intake. In my case the bulb was not burned out the bulb holder had a lot of corrosion on it and would not let the bulb make good contact. The first time this happened I scraped off some of the corrosion and used some deoxit. It worked for about 6 months and then the bulb quit again. So I went to rock auto . com and bought a bulb holder for about 10 dollars and cut the old wires to the bulb holder and soldered the new one in. Just don't use all the wire that comes with the new bulb holder. Make it about the same length as when the old holder was out of the front air intake. Don't forget to position the air intake hose back on the front holding edges when you are finished.
As a side note, when this happened the first time I tried to find something about it in the manual. There was info about the rear bulbs but nothing about the front bulbs. I took it to the Chevy stealership and they wanted 150 dollars to put in a new bulb! Said they had to take the wheel off and all the stuff under the wheel. I said no thanks to them and left thinking there has to be a better way to do this! I hope this is some help to those that have a front turn signal to go out.
Thanks for re-posting this long known tidbit of information.
There is info in the manuals. It says lift the car and remove the access plate under the front corner of the car. It's something like 7 or 9 screws with 7mm hex heads to get it off and gain access. Should have been no more than 1/2 of work at the stealership so $150 is very high.
When mine went out, took my Vette it to my go-to mechanic. He replaced it for $20. He takes off the headlight rim, reaches down and replaces it. Well worth the $20. My hands are to big.

That ... is genius. The next time mine pop, I'll use my scrawny little wife's arms. I've always attacked them from below ... not a fun job.

Just be safe and unplug the headlight motor first before going in that way.
