Default Service Active Handling

New Corvette owner. I bought my 03 just the other day, the Service active handling system is on, the TC is able to be engaged/disengaged and the previous owner told me he had the ABS sensor recently rebuilt. I’m trying to figure out what I need to do to fix this or if it’s something I can put off until later. The previous owner thinks it might be the TC sensor that needs to be replaced or it might need new shocks. I still need to replace tires and fix a small oil leak, so if I can put it off until I get the other stuff done that would help, but if it has to be a priority, I need to know.

Please any help is appreciated. I’m a beginner when it comes to working on cars, so please be patient.

I was a new C5 owner about two years ago so I know where you are at. Congrats on the purchase.
The C5 can sometimes tell you what's wrong with it by the codes it throws. Do a search on how to find the codes. You can Google it too!
My 03 vert started the Service Active Handling warning too. I learned how to find the code it threw and discovered it was the SWPS or steering wheel position sensor. I had it replaced and the problem went away.
You won't know until you pull the codes.
Good luck!

This means use the On Board Diagnostic System to read any codes that might be present on the car. Do a search on the forum for instructions on how to push the buttons on the dash to see the codes.

By the way I have never heard of rebuilding an ABS sensor. The wheel speed sensors are part of the wheel bearings. TC Sensor? What the hell is that? Wheel speed sensors report wheel speeds to the EBCM which uses differences in speeds to determine whether or not to send a signal to the ECM to reduce torque or to apply the brake at the slipping wheel. Codes are what tell you where to look. The story is like three blind men trying to describe an elephant.

Had to do some research on what DIC meant, but after, this is what I got when I pulled them.
TCS 1282, 1283, 1284, 1285, 1287, 1288, 1296. Also HVAC 0361, 0367, LDCM 2262 and 2264.

If you are a "beginner" working on cars to be honest with you I would take it to the shop...WORKING ON THESE C-5'S ARE NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART !!

i would clear all the codes and go for a drive and see what comes back. But 1287 is the steering sensor. Just had mine replaced. Typically 1214 would be the ebcm which can be “rebuilt” I’d you have a 2001 or later
