I replaced the entire AC system last year, it worked great for awhile but now it is giving me issues again. I had a shop vacuum/recharge it two days ago. Now the only time it blows cold is after I drive it and let it sit for 2 hours. It will then blow cold for about 5 minutes then back to warm air. There are no leaks in the system. Any ideas on what could cause this?
I did just install long tube headers but they are not that close to the ac lines, I have the closest low pressure line to the header wrapped in heat shield.
There is what is called an orifice tube in the line right before the dryer. Usually after a compressor failure that tube w3ill get clogged with debris.
you can only get to it after you evacuate the system. If it is clogged the system will not cool. should have been checked during the service
Yes the orifice tube may be clogged An easy fix for a shop
LT headers also often overheat the A/C lines On my 2002 car I had to bend the A/C lines to be at least 1" away from th header tubes---Be gentle you don't want to break the A/C line Wrapping it is not enough it needs to be further away like 1 "
