I have a Powermaster XS High Torque starter installed with 1-7/8 long tubes. The high torque is great, sounds and performs well. The manufacturer specifically notes the starter's ability to withstand high heat exposure from headers. It's also designed to be "clock-able", so it's very easy to make work with any headers and has the stronger design utilizing two full length mounting bolts. That eliminates any concerns with cracking the block.
I highly recommend if you're willing to skew away from the OE style starter.

Buy and install a starter heat shield to prevent premature death of your starter.

Went with this for the dual long bolt with ARP bolts.
