Looking to swap out a damaged rear driver side quarter panel on my 01 z06 & trying to find out if anyone has some inside information on doing a project like this or if there is an existing thread that covers something like this. As a side note, if anyone is looking for a torch red quarter panel (albeit significantly damaged), either as a showpiece or maybe some practice fiberglass work, I've got one up for grabs. Not looking to get anything for it, just wanted to put that out there. Much appreciated, thanks for the help.
It's pretty easy, bunch of screws, all visible around the parimeter and gas cap. The only trick is to remove the rear tail lights, then reach in threw the tail light hole to get to the nuts/ screws that hold the fender to the bumper. I think there are three.Top two from tail light, lower one from below.
You should reach behind that bumper dent and pop it out. When I messed up my front bumper, I let it sit for over a month, after pulling the bumper I pushed out the dent and it's perfectly fine except for a little spider webbing in the paint. I was totally amazed.I think if I pushed it out sooner it might not have been as bad. It's still on my car, hardly noticable. I went off at the track had to swap the front radiator support, drivers mirror and drivers rear qtr.with same color parts. Good luck with the repair.
HAHAHA I was just going to post that video up myself! That is my car that we are working on there. It really wasn't that bad to do but the BIG difference is with yours being a Z06 and mine being a coupe I do NOT know how the back panel between the rear window and the trunk opening comes off but again on the coupe it really was an easy task
I can't tell you how long I spent looking for something like that. Thanks for digging that up for me.
ya we searched long and hard to find an idea of what to do before making that video and there really is not much out there to help you do this! but that is exactly why we started The Corvette Channel!
