Default axel seal questions

Pretty sure the seal on the passenger side is leaking. I plan to try and replace the seal on my own. Do I have to drain the diff to do this? The manual I have does not say I have to but it must get oil there or it would not leak.

Thanks.

you have to remove the axle out of the rear diff... of course.
Have the replacement seal , on hand and ready to install.
No need to drain the rear .
Good luck

you might lose a little fluid depending on how much of an angle the drivetrain is sitting but it shouldn't be enough to cause any concern, you can always recheck the level afterwards just to be sure

It would obviously be a good idea to put in NEW Gear Lube... why would you want old lube on new seals??
its just one drain plug , then fill... Not a big deal

Right after i got the car I drained it replaced it with RP and the GM friction modifier. That is why i did not really want to do it again.

Thanks
