Default C5 side mirror control issues

I hope to find out if there is a separate side view mirror control module that can be replaced. My 2003 suffers from driver's door "wandering mirror" (the passenger door side view mirror is not similarly malfunctioning). Does the door control module (readily available 2nd hand) also control the side view mirror? If not, then where might I find the side view mirror control module? Anyone seen replacements? It's really driving me nuts, having to reset the driver's door side view mirror to the correct adjustment every time I start up my car. The mirror memory buttons are also nonfunctional. What to do?

I wondered that too before I put in my mirror kill switch. I know many of the issues stem from bad position sensors in the mirrors themselves. Seemed to me i should have been able to disable the mirrors by killing the memory module completely, but i couldn't find anything on it.

The fact that your buttons don't work does make me wonder if your problem is the memory function itself, pointing to a module issue as you are asking? My buttons worked fine -- but the mirrors just didn't know where to go....

Do your memory buttons light up? Should blink on startup and i think the one selected stays lit? If that doesn't happy, you could even have an issue with the button assembly (make sure it's plugged in?).

Interested to see if you find out any more info on the memory module itself... if such a thing exists....

You and I corresponded about this previously . . .

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...r-modules.html

. . . and based upon your write-up, I ordered and obtained a 4Pole- Single Throw switch from Amazon. My car audio/electronics guy dissuaded me from that solution. He advised me to conduct more research about the door modules and encouraged me to buy one and try that first before adding a mirror motor cutoff switch. Well, I am dependent upon him to do this kind of work (he installed by Kenwood DNX893S and DD center console, and several other mods).

There is a plentiful supply of door control modules so I will proceed down that route. If after replacing the door control module, the mirrors still wander, then the cutoff switch will be installed as you described.

Yes, the memory buttons' associated lights do illuminate when pressed, and blink on startup. At least I don't have to replace the driver's door button assembly.
