Recall on c5 auto shift cable
Has there ever been or is there a recall on the shift cable for c5s. If there hasent been there should be one. These cables have grommets/bushings that degrade and crack and you could break down anywhere. There are better materials to make these parts out of that won't break and leave you stranded. The fix seems simple. Go to advance and get the grommets for $7 plus change. Take the center console and shifter assembly apart and replace the bushing. But don't bend the cable because its fragile as anything. My bushing we bad, had a mechanic replace it. He must have bent the cable to far to install the new bushing and wallaha had to take it to chevy for repair. $763 smacaroos to replace a cable you can buy for between $50 and $100.

No. Recalls are for safety issues. Made up example: if lots of people experience a wheel falling off while driving. Quality/Reliability issues are not usually covered past the warranty period, except there is a trend with newer cars to offer a "warranty enhancement" for issues that are common problems.
