If you dont use the magnets you are playing russian roulette. Depending on the miles and year of your engine, you are taking a risk. The 2001+ lifter retainers seem to hold the lifters much better than the older style.

If you knew how loose some of those retainers can get, there's no way you'd NOT use the magnets, I promise. After 6 times without magnets i was convinced it wasnt needed, but after a few recent installs my opinion has now changed 100% and I'll never do one without them.

Update: Couldn't find the pen magnets so I just spun it real quick, pulled the cam out and slid the new one in. Piece of cake. I am going to fire the car up in a couple of hours once everything is buttoned up. Should sound wicked with that 110lsa.
