Default Electrical Issues

I'm having trouble with my turn signals. They quit working and I stop and pull the key out and turn on the flashers for a few seconds then start the car back up and they start working again. I know if something weird happens it's probably a ground but where do I start to look? Then while I'm at it. My radio quits working when I shut the car off and exit the car and when I get back in it's not working. Last time I was on my way home and hit a pothole and it came back on. Where would that be? I know there are a lot of ground points on the car but where do I start looking?? Please help if you can.....

Your hazard flasher switch has gone bad. You can either replace it or install a bypass, both will fix you problem you are having.

If when the problem is present it affects both sides, then it's probably the Hazard Switch going bad. In a C5 the turn signal and hazard functions are provided by the hazard switch.

You can replace the hazard switch, but a Hyperflash Harness should fix your problem and is easier to install. As an added bonus, it will allow you to install LEDs in the future with no hyperflashing.

A hyperflash harness replaces the portion of the hazard switch that handles the turn signals with a flasher that's LED friendly. Hazards will still hyperflash because that function remains untouched in the OEM hazard switch.

Check this one out. It's completely plug-and-play: no splicing or anything.

It would have been better to start a separate thread about this other issue to avoid confusion. Anyways, regarding the radio, check your codes and write all of them down. Then, reset them, go for a ride, check them again and see which ones return. Also, next time you're driving and this problem happens, check your codes before shutting down the car and see if any new code is present.

Per the suggestions above, get the flasher relay harness and be done with the old hazard switch issues. Easy install and about the same price.

No, it seems you misunderstood me. The Hyperflash Harness will not cause problems that were not there before.

If you currently have OEM bulbs, it will fix the turn signal problems you now have and both, turn signals and hazards, will flash at the normal rate.

As you probably know, replacing the front "DRL/Turn Signal/Hazard/Parking Light" bulbs and/or the tail "Brake/Turn Signal/Hazard/Parking Light" bulbs with LEDs will cause both, turn signals and hazards, to hyperflash. Installing this harness will fix the turn signal hyperflashing. The hazards hyperflashing will continue to happen (it was happening before as a consequence of the LEDs, NOT created by the harness) because that function would still be controlled by the OEM Hazard Switch.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys you've been a big help. And as your suggestions I'll go with the harness and be done with it. I'd rather eat a bowel of rocks then wrap my head around electrical issues. But thanks to the people on the forum you've helped me out again...Big Thanks to you all......
